NIPPLES

A nipple serves as the crucial connecting point between the rim and spoke of a bicycle wheel, often referred to in various terms such as a metal piece or screw nut. At SAPIM, we recognize that market demands vary significantly, encompassing different mounting systems, rim styles, colors, and weight preferences, all of which lead to a diverse range of nipple options.

SAPIM provides a much larger range of models than those displayed on this website.
If you have specific requests, do not hesitate to contact your SAPIM representative for more options.

The production of our Nipples

Nipples are crafted from high-quality brass or aluminum. They undergo forging and drilling using precisely calibrated machinery, ensuring exceptional accuracy and quality. Each nipple’s quality is rigorously maintained through specialised control machines. Surface treatment is performed by carefully selected partners of SAPIM, further enhancing the overall quality and finish.

Colours

Make it personal

Colours

Brass Aluminum
The most common material for nipples. Brass is nickel-plated for excellent corrosion resistance and works perfectly with wheel-building robots. SAPIM offers brass nipples in silver and black finishes. The preferred material for high-performance applications. SAPIM uses premium 7075 T6 aluminum grade for lightweight strength and corrosion resistance. Available in multiple anodized colors including silver, black, red, and blue.

Secure lock

Special nipple locking system

Secure lock

The patented Secure Lock nipple of Sapim is a locking mechanism that prevents nipples from untightening. Highly precise and accurate punching machines are needed for this type of locking system in order to achieve a stable and well defined deformation on the thread. Standard locking resistance of 12cNm.

T-Lock 360

Enhance fastening

T-Lock 360

Designed for use with Sapim nipples, the T-lock 360 enhances fastening by providing +/-15cNm of torque and doubling initial torque after 24 hours. This ensures stability while still allowing for re-truing with minimal torque loss. Its low friction under high tension promises smooth, noise-free wheelbuilding. The T-lock 360 resists water at 93°C, gasoline at 25°C, and oil at 148°C, with recommended use of spoke holding during installation.
